Cut cucumbers in half lengthwise to extract the seeds. Scoop out seeds and any surrounding pulp from the seed cavity. Place this mixture of seeds and pulp into a small bucket or jar with some water. The mixture needs to undergo fermentation for 1-3 days to remove the pulp from the seeds.
Why are my cucumbers full of seeds?
Cucumbers are 98 percent water and without a constant source during maturation, they'll put all of the available resources into developing seed instead of plump fruit. Make sure your soil has lots of organic matter incorporated into it prior to planting.
How do you get cucumber seeds for next year?
In order to save seeds from cucumbers, you must let them thoroughly ripen on the vine. They will enlarge and turn yellow. They should stay on the vines until the vines are dead. Bring the cucumbers into the house and let them ripen further on a dry shelf in the pantry (or someplace out of direct sunlight).
